WHAT ARE CATARACTS
Cataracts occur when the natural lenses in your eyes become cloudy and make it difficult for you to see as clearly as you once did. Luckily, cataracts are common, natural, and treatable. In fact, cataract surgery is one of the most common outpatient procedures in the Singapore National Eye Centre today1.
What is a cataract?
More than 90% of people develop cataracts – the clouding and yellowing of the lens in your eye – by the age of 65.2
What causes cataracts?
The natural lens in your eye is made up of protein that starts to clump together and cloud the lens as you age.
